Security tag...

I just ran into the store and while there, I saw this cute purse that I just had to have... (was not liking the current one I got for summer)  So I purchased and went on my way but when I get home I find out it has the security tag on it.  Ugh... just hate it when this happens.  Now I will have to pull out my wire cutters and cut off.

BTW... are ya wondering how much it cost????  $9.99 at FRED's.

2010 04 25 @ AFL-CIO Conf Orlando

I had the opportunity to attend a Conference in Orlando with AIL.  One evening we went to Johnny's Hideaway where we had a wonderful dinner.  I just had to take pictures of the food. A habit from my Grandfather Stroud.  WE all had a nice evening together.

Gardenia's Smell SOOOOO Good!

I also purchased a Gardenia Plant but DON'T know where to PLANT...
YIKES...
Any Suggestions?
Thinking about going and getting one more because it was ONLY $4.98 at Lowe's.

2010 Herb Garden

It's amazing to see how my herbs are doing from last year. Then this year I added some more. I decided that I can have a pretty herb garden in my front year. It looks nifty to me.... What is in the garden?

New Additions

Lemon Balm

Cilantro

Pineapple Sage

Also added is a Purple Verbena between Oregano & Thyme.

Last Years Survivors

Oregano

Thyme

Rosemary

Chives

Below: The Newly refreshed front garden (flowerbed)
Below: Pineapple Sage (It is suppose to bloom pretty red blossoms. Put in garden for color.)

Below: Big top herb on right is last years Oregano and bottom bit herb is Thyme.
Below: Window Garden... So, we are also going to try and bring plants to life from seeds. The lucky winners were:

Sunflowers (BIG)

Cilantro

Round: Deep Red Flesh Watermelons

Small Early Variety Watermelons
Below: This is Sydney's close up of our pellets filled with Sunflowers and two types of Watermelons. It's like a mini green house.

The other items in the garden are Iris and spider monkey grass that Carrie Stroud planted for me when she was living in Tallahassee, FL last year but has since moved back to lovely Seattle, WA.

Our Garden

We planted a garden today. Swimming was canceled. It's Sydney's garden. She says that she will be taking care of it. We purchased a flat watering hose to help keep it watered while we are away. What did we plant in our garden?
* strawberries
* sweet potatoes
* cucumbers

Tomorrow I am posting the herb garden addition that I planted in my front garden.

In addition, I downloaded some Book of Mormon stories from the lds.org web site and listened to them today. During prayer this evening Sydney thanked Heavenly Father for the scripture time on "Mom's Phone" (how cute).

While Posting about Dade

I sat outside in the bright comforting Sun as I posted all about Dade Dog and his moving to Columbus, GA. While sitting outside a beautiful butterfly came by and I got some great pictures. It even got on my finger. It was so neat to see a Butterfly this close and NOT be at Callaway Gardens at the Butterfly Exhibit.

Blogs about Dade....

Last week while I was gone to Tampa, FL, there was some action at my house. Someone came to my house and Dade slightly bit someone. Now, he did what he was suppose to do, "Guard the House" because he is a "Guard Dog". He didn't break the skin but it was a bit too much for me to deal with even though he was on his property minding his own business. But, he has gone to visit his Gam-Mommy for the summer. So the following posts will be of our past few days with Dade Dog (Dade Smith).

Dade on a walk in Burmah Heights

He wouldn't stand still for very long and so all the picture are in motion. But you can guess what he is doing near the bushes instead of always walking on the road.

Yep.... he was marking his area!

Dade at Gam-Mommy's

Just getting to Gam-Mommy's house....

I will have to tell ya that he loved/loves it up there. It was very obvious that he was excited to be back there. His tail was just a wagging! He even got his shots and he seemed okay going to the vet. After the vet, I gave him a bath (no pictures of bath because I was all wet) but he looks so much better having his bath.

Wow... he is inside on his own choice prior to the bath.

This is his, huh look. Whats going on?

Still, "huh, what's up" Sitting down look!

After the BATH

This is what he looks like clean....
(A bit fluffy but we won't tell him that. We will say he looks like a LION.)

GO NOLES!!!
See he is guarding already up in Columbus, GA.

Dade with Sydney

I just had to capture these pictures. Just so adorable!!!!!
FOR SURE
AFTER
HIS
BATH!!!

RS Prayer Lesson

I just had the best experience teaching the Relief Society lesson 8 "Praying to Our Heavenly Father".  The spirit was so strong from the beginning of the Relief Society.  The lesson was split into 5 sections and the suggestion for teaching was to group the participants to discuss the 5 topics (basically have them give the lesson). This made such sense to me because it was the topic of prayer and we know the answers and simple subject.  The topics were:
- What is prayer?
- Why do we pray?
- When should we pray?
- How should we pray?
- How are prayers answered?

The sisters responded to this so well and did a great job explaining their topic.

During the lesson it reminded me of two different items:
1) that I had once created a counted cross stitch for my dad while he was the LDS Chaplin on Ft Benning that said "No Man Stands Taller Than When He Is On His Knees"
2) Sydney was 4 (June 2004) and I walked into her room and saw that she was praying on her bed for safety.

I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to speak to my Heaven Father through the ability of prayer and to have him answer.

Age Spots

What my ninety year old Grandmother (Tudy) is doing.

She bought medicine to remove age spots.  When to dermatologist for age spots also.

Ninety years old and worried about age spots.  I hope that when I am 90 years old, if I make it that long, that age spots is the biggest part of my health problems.

My kinda of music... DISCOVERED

So it has been decided by me that I have discovered my FAVORITE type of music is and it is FOLK/INDIE ROCK.

Here are some of the artists that I enjoy listening to:
  • Butch Walker
  • Matt Costa
  • Damien Rice
  • Virginia Coalition
  • Glen Hansard/Marketa Irglova
  • Port O'Brien
  • Carey Ott
  • Ray LaMontagne

I wonder if this makes me an old foogie or hip since I like FOLK music. Makes me think I need to go and put on a long hippie dress, find my jesus shoes, ditch the bra, throw my arms up in the air and spin around starring at the sky because I like FOLK music. LOL

I am going with HIP because it is kinda new music. See what I got off Wikipedia:
Indie folk is a music genre that arose in the 1990s from singer/songwriters in the indie rock community showing heavy influences from folk music scenes of the 50's, 60's and early 70's. A few early artists included Beck, Elliott Smith and Lou Barlow. This genre is often closely related to others including freak folk, psych folk, Baroque pop and New Weird America.[1] This genre has been steadily growing in popularity with bands such as Fleet Foxes, Beirut and Bon Iver. It is also being aided by festivals such as Bonnaroo and Coachella.

Speed Limit 55 mph to school

Sydney: "The speed limit is 55 MPH."

Me: "I know what the speed limit is, thank you Sydney. Sydney you need to let me drive."

Sydney: "I would but you need to follow the speed limit."

Me: "Sydney, let me drive. Remember you will drive one day and I will be correcting you then. I am the one who is suppose to correct you."

Sydney: "I know but you are suppose to be a good example for me. How am I suppose to follow when you are not being a good example. "

My Thoughts:
Ouch.... She is right. Sometimes I wonder the heck am I doing. Refocus needed on my part.

And a little child shall lead them...(Isaiah 11:6)
Where has my focus gone and what do I need to do fix?
It's the primary answers that most of you know...
"Prayer, scriptures, church, and follow commandments."
Plus other things like read Ensign, FHE, and study:
"Preach My Gospel" (Which I am really enjoying to read and the Stake Leadership has asked that members finish reading by June 2010.)

Listerine

My favorite of all commercials is the Listerine with the clock and the gentleman swishing it in and around his month. I think because it is such a REAL experience that this is my favorite commercial of all time.

Union Square Bar Nuts... Wanna Try!

Watching the Food Network and heard this recipe... Yummmy! I am going to try it. It will be a plus if I got to go and get some of the Union Square Nuts while in NYC this May. Note: Served hot at 4:45pm sharp each day.

Union Square Cafe
21 East 16th Street
NYC

(between Union Square West and 5th Ave)

Recipe
2 1/4 cups (18-ounces) assorted unsalted nuts, including peeled peanuts, cashews, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, walnuts, pecans and whole unpeeled almonds
1/2 cup whole chopped fresh rosemary leaves
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 teaspoons dark brown sugar
1 tablespoon unsalted butter (Heat Melts Butter)

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Toss the nuts in a large bowl to combine and spread them out on a baking sheet. Toast in the oven until light golden brown, about 10 minutes.
In a large bowl, combine the rosemary, cayenne, sugar, salt and butter.
Thoroughly toss the toasted nuts in the spiced butter and serve warm. And once you eat these, you will never want to stop.
